How to tailor content access rules for your Membership Products

In this article we explain how you can set rules about which courses Learners should be automatically enrolled to when they register for your Membership Product and which courses should be excluded from.

  1. Navigate to Settings -> Membership Products
  2. Then click on the Membership Product you want to edit (alternatively you may be creating a new product)
  3. Click on 'Content' in the left hand menu of the Membership Product create/edit journey

From here you can choose which courses learners registered to this membership product should have access to.

Important: You can also set further rules at a course level to control how much members should pay for a course depending on which Membership Product they are registered to. See the article 'How to tailor course rules by Membership'.

What does 'Pre-Enrol Learners' mean

This feature allows you to select courses that you want members to be automatically enrolled to (for free) upon registering or renewing onto the membership product.

Only live/published courses can be added to the ‘pre-enrol learners’ field  – courses in ‘Draft’ status will not be displayed in the drop-down list.

Once you save your changes, these courses will be displayed in the members' Current Courses list and will be visible upon logging into the platform.

All other courses will be displayed in the Catalogue (unless you have set any excludion rules, please see below).

This is a useful feature if there is specific content that you want all learners registered to the membership to consume.

You can also update this rule at any time if there are new courses you want to automatically enrol your members to. All active Learners registered to the membership product will be automatically enrolled to the course when you click 'Save'.

Important: Once you add a course to the pre-enrol list and click save, this cannot be undone. You will need to navigate to each Learner's profile page (Learners -> Click on the name of the learner in the table) and un-enrol them from the course manually.

What does 'Excluded Content' enable

This feature allows you to remove courses and live classes from the membership product’s catalogue.

By adding courses and live classes to this field, learners who register to this membership product will not see or have access to this content from their catalogue.

Only live/published courses can be added to the ‘Excluded Content’ field  – courses in ‘Draft’ status will not be displayed in the drop-down list.

If you change your mind in the future and want to allow learners to access the course you can change this setting at any time.
