What are Membership Products
This feature allows you to create unique membership offerings and tailored propositions for your target markets. You have complete control over how much users pay to register, what learning content members have access to, and how long they retain access to your platform for.
Default Set Up
By default, when your platform is set up:
- Learners can register to your platform for free
- All registered learners can see and enrol to all published courses
- You set the price paid by users at the course level - some courses may be free, some may be paid, but all users will see the same course prices
- All Learners retain access to your platform indefinitely (or until you disable their access manually)
This may perfectly suit what you are looking to achieve. For example you may be using the platform for one specific cohort of users who need free, unlimited access to a defined set of content. Or you may have one set price for your content for all members who register to your site.
Membership Products
However you may want to tailor offerings for different audiences, perhaps based on who they are (e.g. based on profession, job role or cohort) or by how much they pay (e.g. an up-sell strategy). If that's the case, Membership Products will give you much more flexibility and control over what you market and sell.
Once the Membership Products feature is enabled, you can:
- Create an unlimited number of membership offerings in line with your marketing or business strategy
- Define how much members must pay to register to each of your membership offerings (e.g. free access, one-time payment, monthly recurring payment or monthly installment plan)
- Establish rules about which courses and learning content is made available to members based on the membership product they are registered to
- Set how much members must pay for each course based on the membership product they are registered to
- Limit how long members retain access to the platform for (before they have to renew) based on the membership product they are registered to
For example, you could create Product A and charge your learners £10 a month to access the platform and once inside they can enrol to all content at no extra cost.
Conversely you could also create Product B and allow Free access to the platform for a limited amount of time, but once inside your users are required to pay for each piece of content as they consume – a bit like a pay as you go phone contract.
In addition, with Membership Products:
- In-built automated renewal journeys for your members
- You can choose if the membership product should be available for sale on your main registration page or a hidden registration page
- You can define if a membership product should be available for renewal or not (e.g. you may have an acquisition product that you don't want to offer at renewal)
- You can decide if the membership product's course catalogue should be visible pre- or post- registration
