Automated Course Enrolments
You can set rules to automatically enrol Learners in additional courses once they complete a specific course e.g. Complete Course A and automatically enrol the learner to Course B.
This article provides an overview of the use cases for this feature and guides you through the process of setting these rules.
What is the 'Automated Course Enrolments' feature?
This feature allows you to automatically enrol learners onto one or more courses on completion of a first course.
e.g. Complete course A and auto-enrol the learner to course B. Once course B is complete, auto-enrol the Learner to course C and course D.
Note: This is different to the auto-enrolment feature available on the course payments page and at a membership product level, which automatically enrols all Learners to the course when they register to your site. If you set a rule for Learners to be automatically enrolled to a course at registration this will supersede any 'Automated follow-on enrolment rules'.
Use cases for the 'Automated Course Enrolments' feature
This feature could be used in a couple of key ways:
- As part of 'Mini-bundle' proposition: You could promote a 'buy one course, get one free' on your sales site and fulfil this by adding a rule on your ClickLMS site to automatically enrol the Learner to Course B upon completion of Course A (and/or vice versa).
- To create a more linear 'Learning Path': Courses can effectively be 'chained' together to create a learning path. So for example you can get Learners to complete an Introductory course, then they will be automatically enrolled to an intermediate course and so on.
How to use the 'Automated Course Enrolments' feature
You will need to define which course(s) the Learner should be automatically enrolled to upon completion of the course you are creating/editing.
This is done from the course 'Settings' page under the 'Automated Course Enrolments' section.
For example if you want the Learner to be enrolled to Course B upon completion of Course A, go to the 'Settings' page of Course A and add 'Course B' to the 'Automated Course Enrolments' section.
You can add as many published courses as you like. However if the course has been removed from sale or is in draft status you will not be able to select it. You will first need to publish then it can be selected as part of the 'Automated Course Enrolments' rule.
Important: If the course you are creating/editing has already been published, in order to add/edit the 'Automated Course Enrolments' rule you will need to remove the course from sale first, You will then be able to add the rule then re-publish the course for the new rule(s) to take effect.
How to change the 'Automated Course Enrolments' rule(s)?
You can change which course(s) Learners should be automatically enrolled to upon completion of a specific course at any time.
Go to the course 'Settings' page, remove the course from sale and then you can edit the course(s) in the list (you can add or remove courses). Then click 'Save' for your changes to take effect.
Don't forget to publish your course again if you want to continue accepting enrolments to the course.
Any Learners enrolled to the course who have not yet completed it AND all future Learners who enrol to the course will be auto-enrolled to the edited list of courses.
Note: Learners who have already completed the course will not be affected by the changes. If you add a course to the list, Learners who have already completed the course will not be automatically enrolled to it. Nor will they be un-enrolled from a course that is removed from the list.
